Visa Requirements
Entry permissions vary by nationality. Find your category below.
Your nationality decides: visa-free, visa on arrival, or an electronic travel authorization obtained before departure.
Citizens of certain Arab League member states can enter Jordan without a visa.
A valid national ID card may be sufficient for citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
Citizens of countries not eligible for visa on arrival must obtain a visa in advance.
Cost: A fee applies, which is generally higher than the visa on arrival fee.
You must have a confirmed hotel booking and a return flight ticket. The eVisa must be printed and presented on arrival.
Most other nationalities, including many Western travelers, can obtain a single-entry visa on arrival.
The visa fee for a single entry is subject to change. It is advisable to have the exact cash amount. The Jordan Pass, which includes the visa fee and entry to many sites, can be purchased online before travel and may offer better value.

Customs & Duty-Free
Jordan has standard customs regulations. Travelers should be aware of duty-free allowances and restrictions on certain items.
Prohibited Items
- Narcotics and illegal drugs - strict laws apply
- Firearms and ammunition without prior authorization
- Pornographic materials
- Products from Israel without proper documentation
Restricted Items
- Prescription medication - must be in original packaging, accompanied by a doctor's prescription
- Cultural artifacts and antiquities - require special export permits

Health Requirements
There are few mandatory health requirements for entry into Jordan. But certain vaccinations are recommended.

Children under 16 may be included on a parent's passport in some cases. But it is increasingly recommended for each child to have their own passport. Unaccompanied minors or children traveling with only one parent may need additional documentation, such as a notarized letter of consent from the non-traveling parent(s).
Cats and dogs require an import permit from the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture, a valid veterinary health certificate issued within 10 days of travel, and proof of current rabies vaccination administered at least one month prior to entry. Pets may be subject to quarantine upon arrival.
If you wish to stay in Jordan longer than your visa allows, you must apply for an extension at a police station or the Department of Residence and Borders in Amman before your current visa expires. Overstaying results in a daily fine that must be paid upon departure.
